Firecode Testing

Fire code testing is performed to evaluate sprayed fire-resistive materials (SFRM), or materials applied to structural members to provide static fire protection.

SFRM acts as a barrier to prevent structural steel from overheating for a specified period of time, depending on the hourly rating. AEIS’ International Code Council (ICC)-certified personnel evaluate properties such as thickness, density and bond strength, components critical to protecting structural integrity in the event of a fire. The samples of the applied SFRM in the field are extracted based on a specified sampling scheme. Collected samples are then tested at AEIS’ in-house Construction Materials Laboratory to ensure that the applied material can provide the necessary fire protection.
