Client
OHL North America/Judlau

Project Type
Bridge

Location
Bronx and Queens, New York

Years
2019-Present

Description

Opened in 1961, the Throgs Neck Bridge connects the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx with the Bay Terrace section of Queens. This suspension bridge was built with six lanes, three in each direction, in effort to ease increasing congestion on the nearby Bronx–Whitestone Bridge. In June 2019, AEIS partnered with OHL North America on the revitalization of Throgs Neck bridge through the replacement of the original, concrete-filled 60-year-old bridge deck with an orthotropic steel deck. AEIS is proud to ensure a high level of quality, compliance and safety for this heavily traveled crossing.

Scope

AEIS is providing quality control supervision through non-destructive testing (NDT), welding, bolting, concrete and reinforced steel inspections on-site, at the fabrication shop, and in our in-house laboratories. Project materials and activities are evaluated on a daily basis to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and codes. Our team utilizes a fully-digital reporting system and streamlined communication methods to keep project teams in the inspection and testing loop.
