Description

The Carl J. Olsen Water Treatment plant in Edison, New Jersey has a treatment capacity of 60 million gallons per day, providing water to nearly half a million residents in eastern Middlesex and Monmouth counties. This project entailed the construction of a new ozone treatment facility and various upgrades including a $70 million investment to replace sodium hypochlorite with ozone as the primary disinfectant in the water treatment process. This project came to a successful completion in 2021, improving water quality and health outcomes for nearly a half a million residents.

Scope

AEIS performed welding and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections for the facility’s new underground stainless steel piping system. Our team utilized various NDT techniques to verify the soundness of stainless-steel pipe joints and performed failure analysis to uncover actionable solutions. AEIS applied welding and NDT expertise to increase the long-term structural integrity, quality, and safety of the Carl J. Olsen Treatment Plant.
