Getting Started Reward Solutions Why Incentives

10-Step Process Overview
STEP 9 - DISTRIBUTE AWARDS & CELEBRATE SUCCESS

It's Time For My Reward

Depending upon the award medium you select for your program, here are several things to keep in mind: the awards should be perceived as high quality, valuable and appealing, and they should be delivered in a timely manner.

  1. Present awards in person, perhaps at a celebration rally or luncheon.
  2. Try to get program results as soon as possible, so the awards can be given out when the program is still fresh in everyone's mind.
  3. Make sure awards are easy to administer. Difficulties or dissatisfaction at this point in the process can negate much of the positive morale generated during the incentive program.

Successful Celebrations Generate Results

Celebrating success is a fundamental element in reinforcing your company's mission and specific program goals. Share these thought-starters with your program administrator and/or managers. Then add your own special style to say "congratulations" and "thanks" to your best employees and customers. You, your management and your participants will have the opportunity to honor personal achievements, as well as realize measurable business results.

The Personal Touch

Take time to personally acknowledge efforts by presenting an "on-the-spot" award at the office, taking them out to lunch or sending a handwritten note to their home. Sincere recognition goes a long way in renewing commitment to your company:

Thank you for. . .

  • a job well done
  • outstanding customer service
  • handling a difficult situation
  • your business
  • the referral

Congratulations on. . .

  • your recent accomplishment
  • landing a new account
  • hitting your program objectives a month early
  • making your xxx sales call
  • exceeding program goals by x%

Recognize Stars

In addition to personal thanks, recognize special accomplishments and top performers in front of coworkers -- honoring them in a formal way creates an impact that's likely to increase performance even more. At program meetings or for "on-the-spot" recognition:

  • Bestow "Most Valued Player" certificates upon stellar performers
  • Present a star-shaped paperweight to your number one employee or team.
  • Deliver a bouquet of balloons and a Gift Certificate to be redeemed for a special award selected by the participant.
  • Present or send a basket brimming with goodies, a company-logoed accessory and an Electronic Gift Card.
  • Roll out a real red carpet for employees who hit certain milestones.
  • Start a "Wall of Fame" or "Dream Team" portfolio in your office. Place photos, names and the achievements of participants on the wall or in an album.

"Group Hugs"

When the organization hits a milestone or program objective, it's time to do something special for everyone:

  • Give out one-of-a-kind mementos signifying the group's achievement
  • Treat everyone to an old fashioned cake and ice cream celebration
  • Place a big banner on your building
  • Send up a hot air balloon
  • Take out an ad in your local business journal or newspaper
  • Create a "Look what's happened since we first started our program" scrapbook. Take photographs (Polaroids will work just fine) and keep a record of program milestones, participant achievements, and group functions.
  • Host an exclusive celebration party, inviting participants and their guests. A dinner party, or cocktail reception in your home or restaurant gives the group a chance to celebrate their success with friends and loved ones making the experience one that will last a lifetime.
